How a run works
After starting a run, steer around the arena and attack the approaching enemies. Positioning matters: keep moving so that you are less likely to be surrounded, and use your dash to get out of a tight spot. As you progress, level-up screens let you choose an upgrade. Pause when you need a break and resume when you are ready.
The game is a 2D arcade shooter that runs directly in the browser. Its instructions are also shown in-game before or during play, so you can review the prompts there if you need a reminder.
Controls
- W, A, S, D or arrow keys: Move.
- Mouse: Aim.
- Hold the mouse button: Fire.
- Space: Dash.
- P: Pause or resume.
The game interface includes touch controls for touchscreen play. For the most direct aiming and movement, use a keyboard and mouse on desktop.
Tips for a first attempt
- Keep moving and leave yourself room to dodge; standing still makes it harder to avoid a group closing in.
- Aim at nearby threats and hold fire rather than trying to line up every shot while surrounded.
- Save your dash for a dangerous position or a route through a dense group.
- Read the level-up choices before selecting an upgrade, and use P to pause when you need time.
Browser and progress notes
Neon Rift: Swarm Break runs in a modern browser and uses WebGL. Performance can vary between devices. The game does not require a Playvexo account, and there is no Playvexo cloud-save feature, so progress should not be expected to transfer between browsers or devices.
